Today I went to do some shopping for Mother's Day and to get our plants for spring. I haven't had time to pot them so our sideyard is currently home to several cheerful red geraniums, purple daisies, verbena, and a host of other flowers.
I love spring because it is a time of beginnings. God has written his plan for man's redemption throughout nature. Leaves fall in autumn only to be replaced by new growth in spring. Flowers sprout up out of the dead winter ground to remind us that Christ rose from the grave. Spring is a reminder of the resurrection.
However, unlike the resurrection, the beauty of spring is temporary. The beauty of this world is only a shadow of the beauty of Heaven. We can admire the beauty of this world but we are not to focus on this world. The most beautiful is yet to come.
